About the event
We will drive to Tateyama and hike up Nokogiri Mountain while enjoying the nature and beautiful mountains and valley views before heading down the mountain on a cable car.
After shopping for their dinner the scouts will help to prepare the bbq and any parents who have joined in on the trip will join us for the evening BBQ and star gazing. The next morning we will eat breakfast together before heading out to a local creek which is, among others, the habitat of the Firefly. The Great Typhoon of 2019 devastated the landscape in Tateyama and has caused problems with their habitat. We will be working with a local NPO to do some clean up and remake the Firefly's breeding grounds. We will do a followup T.A.K. Family BBQ trip later in the year to view the Fireflies and see the outcome of our work.
After our work is done at the creek we will head for lunch at Grazie Gardens with any of the parents that would like to join before heading to Okinoshima by land bridge to explore the caves and hunt for treasure on the white sand Beach. After which we head back to Tachikawa.

You are invited and welcome to join us on our Tateyama trip!!! Hurray! You can join our evening BBQ on the first day, Firefly creek cleanup/set up, and dinner at Grazie Gardens on the 2nd day before returning home. For the hike up Nokogiriyama and trip to the beach & caves you can relax on your own and take some time to yourself while we Scout Leaders take the Scouts on those adventures. There are many other beautiful sights, and I’d be happy to recommend a quiet lunch spot or onsen for you.
